Testing of Plastic Materials

Axel Products provides a wide range of services to determine the structural properties of solid plastics. Tensile and compression experiments can be performed to basic standards such as ISO 527-1, ASTM D638, ISO 604, and ASTM D695 or to meet specific needs.

Extensometry for Plastic Testing

During testing, axial and lateral strains are measured using clip-on strain gage extensometers, laser extensometers or video-based extensometers depending on the material and application.

Temperature

Measurements with extensometry can be performed from -40C to 150C.

Plastic Test Specimens

Dogbone style tensile specimens, plaques, thin films, non-wovens, fiber-oriented composites and specimens cut from parts may be evaluated.

Plastic Specimen Preparation

Material testing experiments on plastic materials often requires test specimens to be cut from actual parts or plaques. The shop at Axel is able to cut and machine specimens in various ISO, ATM and custom shapes based on the application.
